Speed dating has become a great way for people to meet each other. It's pretty low pressure and it can be a lot of fun. Places like, London should have at least one or two speed dating events each week and more people sign up than you would think. But before you get ready for the event, there are a few tips that you should take into consideration.

1) Be Ready

Since each date is literary six or so minutes long, you should be prepared for the even with an abridged version of who you are, what you like to do and what you do for a living. Don't be too long because you want to get to know your date too. Sit down and come up with five or so things you'd like them to know about you.

2) Be Fun

Even if your date is a bore, be as much fun as you can because in six minutes you're going to be back up at the plate with a new one. If they see that you're not talking or being boring, they won't be as excited to change partners as you are.

3) Wear Something Red

Haven't you always wondered why the bull is running at that red cape all the time? It's because the colour red imitates attraction. A girl wearing red is always the centre of attention.

4) Be Straight To The Point

Can't stand cats? Love dogs? Hate smokers? Go ahead and ask; you'll be glad you did when the scorecard comes back. Of course, you'll want to do this in a civilised and polite manner so you don't hurt their feelings.

5) Work The Room During The Breaks

You'll be given a break sometime during the event. Use this time to work the room and make introductions or follow-ups with some of the guys that you've already met. Since the event is only once a week, you probably won't see any of the guys again so you need to make a great impression while you can.

6) Don't Overdo It

Its speed dating, not speed marrying. Don't expect to find your soul mate at one of the events. If your score comes back with something you didn't expect, don't get yourself down. There's always next week!

Dating in London is hard, but hopefully speed dating will be a great way to get out in the community and find a good group of people to hang out with. You can probably find these groups online or in local London publications.
